Oscar Mayer manufacture a selection of ready meals for Sainsburys. With circa. 1000 staff working a three shift pattern, they produce approximately 1 million ready meals every week – more than 50 million meals every year! 

As Continuous Improvement Manager, John Martin was looking to give the site a more professional and organised image in order to create a culture of ownership on the shop floor. Prior to installing shadow boards and bespoke signage, John would often find cleaning tools stored on the floor, and scoops on top of machines. Not only was equipment not in the right place when it was needed, inadequate storage also presented potential hygiene risks. Having assessed the risks but also the opportunities, John was adamant a change was required.
